This workflow shows how to create a simple report using the KNIME Reporting extension.
You can easily download and run the workflow directly in your KNIME installation. We recommend that you use the latest version of the KNIME Analytics Platform for optimal performance.
To begin with, load some data into KNIME. You can find example workflows on how to do this by visiting the Beginner Space on the KNIME Community Hub.
Once you have loaded your data, you can create a component by selecting some nodes, right-clicking, and choosing "Create component". To enter the component, press CTRL and double-click on it.
In our specific case, we use four nodes inside our component: the Text View, the Bar Chart, the Table View and the Number Format Manager. We use these nodes to visualize our data and format our report.
To access the component and edit the layout, right-click and select "Open layout editor":
- Drag and drop view placeholders
- Configure the size of views by clicking on the cogwheel icon
- Tick the box at the bottom of the layout editor to enable the report output of the component
After you have enabled the "Enable Reporting" option, a blue input and output port will appear in the component. Connect the "Report Template Creator" node to the newly created input port and define the page size and orientation in the "Report Template Creator" dialogue to generate the report.
The Report PDF Writer node saves the PDF in the workflow data area. To open the PDF, navigate to "Reporting minimal example/data" in your KNIME workspace's file explorer. The default name of the report file is "world_population_report.pdf".
