License Requester (Labs)

The License Requester node is your starting point for using matchmaker toolbox nodes in KNIME. It helps you request a license, either a 30-day demo or a production license, based on your system setup.
To get started, simply:

  • Enter your email address (you’ll receive the signed license file there).
  • Choose the type of license:
    • Demo License (30 days) – no token needed; it’s handled automatically.
    • Production License – enter your unique Customer Token (provided by Exorbyte).
When you run the node, it will:
  • Collect some basic technical information (like your system or team ID).
  • Create a license request file.
  • Send this file securely to Exorbyte via the internet.
If the request is successful, you’ll receive your signed license file by email in just a few minutes. If the request couldn’t be sent, you’ll get clear instructions on where to find the file so you can email it manually to knime-node-license@exorbyte.com.
Important: A license is bound to the environment it was requested from. This means:
  • A license requested from a local KNIME AP installation cannot be used on a KNIME Hub instance.
  • Even for different KNIME AP installations (e.g. on separate machines), a separate license request is required for each environment.
After receiving the signed license file by email, you need to place it in the correct location so that it can be activated by the License Activator node:
  • Local KNIME Analytics Platform: Reopen the License Requester node and configure it with the received license file. Upon validation, the file will be automatically copied to the correct internal Exorbyte license directory within your workspace.
  • KNIME Hub (Team Environment): A Hub or Team administrator must upload the license file as a Secret using KNIME’s Hub secret management system.
Once the license is placed and accessible in the correct way, you can run the License Activator node to validate and activate the license, enabling Exorbyte functionality.

In case of a successful execution of the License Requester node a flow variable
exorbyte.license_requester_status
is defined. Its value provides a short information about the actions that have been executed as well as a hint for the next steps.
