Simple deployment with CDDS framework. For the simple deployment, you need to load to the CDDS the project already containing the prediction workflow (created either manually or with the Integrated Deployment nodes).

01-03 CDDS Simple, Automated, and Continuous Deployment

Learning objective: In this exercise you'll deploy the prediction workflow using the CDDS deployment process.

Exercise 01 CDDS Simple deployment


Work with the 01 CDDS Simple deployment folder

Step 1. CDDS user instructions

The prediction workflow is already created and is located in the folder Production of the project folder CreditScoringXX

  1. Rename the project folder from CreditScoringXX to CreditScoring<your_user_id> (find your user ID in your space name). You will collaborate with other course participants in the same CDDS spaces, therefore, your project name should be unique.

  2. Upload the project folder to the CDDSDevelopment space on KNIME Business Hub

  3. On your profile page, open the Data App Portal:

    • Filter by or navigate to the correct data app category* and open the CDDS User Data App

      • Category for courses with trainer: CDDS - KNIME Training (unless specified differently by the trainers)

      • Category for self-paced courses: L3-self-paced CDDS

  4. Select your CreditScoring project and submit it for validation

    • The workflow should get rejected by the automated validation process. The data app will provide you with the reason (deprecated node in the workflow)

  5. In KNIME Analytics Platform, navigate to the Explorer and open local copy of the prediction workflow in the Development space

    • Replace the deprecated node, reset and save the workflow on KNIME Business Hub.

    • In the CDDS User Data App, submit it for validation again. This time the automated process should succeed. Now you need to get a manual approval of the CDDS admin*.


* Make sure to open the data app from the correct category, otherwise you won't be able to proceed.

** In this course you learn and play the role of both the CDDS user and the CDDS admin

Step 2. CDDS admin instructions

  1. On your profile page, open the Data App Portal and open the CDDS Admin Data App in the correct category (see step 1).

  2. Approve the validation of your CreditScoring project submitted for validation. The project will move to the Production space and the service deployment will be created.

  4. On your profile page, open the Data App Portal, and open the CDDS User Data App in the correct category (see exercise 01)

  5. Select your CreditScoring project and submit it for training. The prediction workflow will be created automatically in the CDDS Training space and the project will automatically move to the CDDS Validation space

    • The automated validation process should succeed. Now you need to get a manual approval of the CDDS admin.

Step 2. CDDS admin instructions

  1. On your profile page, open the Data App Portal and open the CDDS Admin Data App in the correct category (see step 1).

  2. Approve the validation of your CreditScoring project submitted for validation. The project will move to the Production space and the service deployment will be updated. The workflow continues to be used for predictions.

  4. Upload the project folder to the CDDS Development space on KNIME Business Hub (replace your previous project)

  5. On your profile page, open the Data App Portal, and open the CDDS User Data App in the correct category (see exercise 01)

  6. Select your CreditScoring project and submit it for training. The prediction workflow will be created automatically in the CDDS Training space and the project will automatically move to the CDDS Validation space.

    • The automated validation process should succeed. Now you need to get a manual approval of the CDDS admin.

Step 2. CDDS admin instructions

  1. On your profile page, open the Data App Portal and open the CDDS Admin Data App in the correct category (see step 1).

  2. Approve the validation of your CreditScoring project submitted for validation. The project will move to the Production space and the service deployment will be updated. The workflow continues to be used for predictions.

  3. Trigger the monitoring of your CreditScoring project from the CDDS Admin Data App.

CDDS on KNIME Business Hub

To solve this exercise, you need access to a KNIME Business Hub with the CDDS extension installed.

Ask the Hub admin of your organization to install CDDS following this guide.
