Frequently Asked Questions

This page contains answers to our most frequently asked questions. If you cannot find what you are looking for, please get in touch with us.

I need an API key to use QRocodile QR Code Nodes. Where do I get one?

Request one for free at qrocodile.io — just enter your email address, confirm the code you receive, and your key is ready to use in the API Key node. No account, no credit card.

Is QRocodile QR Code Nodes free to use?

Yes. The nodes themselves are free, and so is the API key.

What’s the difference between the two render nodes?

Render QR Code covers the common case: a content string and an optional built-in preset. Render QR Code With Design accepts a full design configuration — palettes, gradients, module and finder styles, logos, and the halo background decoration — for when you need complete control over how the code looks.

Can I create a dynamic QR code that I can edit after printing?

No. Every code is rendered from the content and design you send with the request, so changing the target later means rendering and distributing a new code. There is no hosted, editable-after-print QR code in this API.

I also see Barcode Nodes, which can create and read QR codes too. What’s the difference?

Barcode Nodes is a general-purpose toolkit for many formats (UPC, EAN, Code 128, Data Matrix, QR, and more), and it can both encode and decode — read the content back out of an existing barcode image. QRocodile QR Code Nodes is focused entirely on QR codes and only renders them, but with the full QRocodile design system: palettes, gradients, module and finder styles, logos, and the halo background decoration. If you need styled, on-brand QR codes, use QRocodile; if you need to decode a code or work with other barcode formats, use Barcode Nodes.

Can I use QRocodile QR Code Nodes with the free KNIME Analytics Platform, including commercially?

Yes. There are no restrictions on using QRocodile QR Code Nodes for any purpose, commercial or otherwise, with the free KNIME Analytics Platform.

What’s new? Is there a changelog?

Yes. This way please!
