This node provides location information for a “Location Extractor” or “Reverse Location Lookup” node.
The node accesses the GeoNames database – each query is sent to the database to retrieve results. “GeoNames is aggregating over hundred different data sources.” The node uses the GeoNames REST web service for which the following terms and conditions apply (quoting from here):

We suggest to enable the option to retrieve location hierarchies to improve the Location Extractor’s result accuracy. This however causes an additional API request for every found location.
If you want to keep your data private, you’re running out of GeoNames’ request limit, you want to speed up operations significantly, or you want to use a more extensive database than provided by GeoNames, have a look at the “Local Location Source” node.
