How To - Extract a Delta Load from an SAP BW Query
How To - Extract a Delta Load from an SAP BW QueryWorkflow Description:This workflow provides a template to enable the extract of a Delta load from an SAP BW Query. When data is pushed from a transactional system such as SAP ECC or SAP S/4HANA to an SAP BW system, a unique Request Number is automatically generated toidentify the load of data. The Request Number is stored in SAP BW table, RSREQICODS (Monitor: Saving of the updated IC and ODS per request). It is possible to use the Request Number (RNR) in table, RSREQICODS to identify the last time an SAP BW InfoProvider was updated. The Request Number can be usedas the basis to identify and extract a Delta load from an SAP BW Query by passing the Request Number (RNR) field value to the Request Number (0REQUID)characteristic in a SAP BW Query.Prerequisites: This approach only works if the SAP BW InfoProvider has NOT been compressed AND the Request Number (0REQUID) has been exposed in the SAP BWQuery. If you do have Delta load requirements that are not satisfied by this approach, then please contact the DVW team at acs_support@dvwsolutions.com.Prerequisites:KCS SAP ExecutorKCS Tools Used:SAP Table Data and SAP BW Read ToolsThis workflow requires the DVW KNIME Connector for SAP. For more details and to request a trial, visit us at www.dvwanalytics.com SAP BW table, RSREQICODS isselected in the SAP Table Datatool along with the fields that willbe used to identify the delta:TABNAME, RNR, RNSIDLASTand TIMESTAMP.A Filter is applied to theTABNAME field to select the DataSource (i.e. SAP BW InfoProviderAKA cube) that you want to extractthe delta for. The Sorter Node sorts the Timestamp outputfrom the table in descending order. The Row Sampling Node selects the first entryoutput from the Sort tool. This entry representsthe latest Request Number. The Column Expressions and TableManipulator Nodes prepares a dynamicinput filer that will pass a SAP BWcharacteristic, 0REQUID to the SAP BWQuery. The value of 0REQUID is derivedfrom the Request Number (RNR) field fromtable RSREQICODS.Only the fields required by the dynamic inputfilter are passed to the SAP BW Query. The dynamic input filter fields are passed tothe SAP BW Read tool and used to executethe selected SAP BW Query.
