Market Share KPI - sales company data (volume, sales)

The market share KPI definition is:

"Measures the percentage of the target market accounted for by the business, from the overall existing market."

It can be measured by sales, your_sales / all_market_sales, or by volume, your_units_sold / all_market_unit_sold

In this workflow we compute the market share KPI according to sales and units sold in 2023, using company sales data and survey data. We assume that customers only buy one product per year (ex. car, fridge).

We assume that the people who participated to the survey are representative of the population in the area.

These are the steps:

Import sales and survey data and extract date and time information

Import competition prices

Count how many people responded "YES" to the survey and what products they purchased

Compute revenue from sales data

Use the market share from the survey and the sales data to estimate the reference market

Apply both KPI formula

Create a visualization
